Indian Forester, Scottish Laird - the story behind the book

In a new video, created by Wild Leaf Reels, Dr Henry Noltie tells the story of the research behind his new books on Hugh Francis Clarke Cleghorn (1820-1895) that was inspired by the Indian library and herbarium collections at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE). The video provides an insight into how Henry pieced together the story of Cleghorn's life and the incredible collections that form his legacy.

It is always great to get media coverage for our publications and the new books by Henry Noltie on the life and collections of Hugh Cleghorn and the related exhibition at Inverleith House are generating some lovely stories . In the article "Forgotten art gives a glimpse into life’s work of key botanist" in the Times (30 July) Gabriella Bennett notes that the Cleghorn illustrations "...are colourful but delicate artworks that reveal the beauty of the plant world and have stood the test of time". Chilean book shortlisted for design prize

We are very proud to announce that Plants from the Woods and Forests of Chile has made the shortlist for the 2016 British Book Design & Production Awards in the Scholarly, Academic and Reference Books category. Published in a limited edition of 450 copies, the book was designed by Nye Hughes of Dalrymple and printed by Albe De Coker in Belgium. It features more than 80 original watercolour paintings of Chilean plants by 4 world-class botanical artists. The winners of this year's awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on the 10th November. Fingers crossed!
